With its softness and brushed feel, Isager Soft has become extremely popular, which inspired Isager to develop a similar but thinner version. Isager Soft is a tube yarn where alpaca fibers are blown into a cotton mesh, a method that requires a thicker yarn. In contrast, Isager Soft Fine has a silk core where a strand of alpaca and yak wool has been added as a loop-bouclé, which is finally brushed to create a fluffy yarn.
Although the manufacturing method and fibers differ between the two yarns, they have a very similar texture. Isager Soft Fine contains yak wool, and the depth of the colors comes from the yak wool’s naturally dark shade—just as we recognize from the heathered S-colors where white and black wool are blended.
The softness can be compared to Silk Mohair, but knitting with Soft Fine is a completely different experience, especially when knitting with a single strand. The yarn is incredibly soft, and Isager’s internal name for this quality is "Isager’s cashmere."
